July 17, 2008
"At DaVita, our highest priority is the health and well-being of the more than 100,000 patients cared for by our professional partners and teammates," said Kent Thiry, CEO of DaVita. "We're please that this commitment has once again been validated by the findings from CMS."
DaVita consistently surpasses national averages for CMS, CPM and KDOQI outcomes. Most recently, DaVita outperformed the national averages by as much as 44% on four key clinical performance outcomes. A recent study that compared the mortality trends for the major dialysis providers found that DaVita had a significant improvement in survival compared to non-chain facilities.
"By focusing on clinical training and continuous quality improvement, we are able to partner with nephrologists. DaVita's tools and teammate training help reach these goals."

Chronic kidney disease affects 1 million people in India, with an additional 7.5 million people at risk for developing renal failure. Yet lifesaving dialysis treatments are generally unavailable in India. “Kidney disease is a huge problem in India and this clinic will provide quality dialysis [to masses at large] [to patients], both in terms of adequacy and improved sanitation, including optimal pre-treated water for treatment,” said Dr. Manish Chaturvedy.
Partnership opportunities are continuing to grow throughout Central and South America, India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Portable Dialysis helps Patients
June 25, 2008
Patients are trained on the portable hemodialysis machines at centers just like the DaVita at Home center in East Lansing where they're trained on the equipment in just three to five weeks.
"They not only have this set time that they choose to do the dialysis; they get better dialysis at home, and more frequent dialysis gets to be a much much better outcome for their quality of their life," said Nicholas Adolf a training nurse at the center.
Hemodialysis International says patients taking daily dialysis have a 61 percent better survival rate compared to conventional dialysis.

Local DaVita Center recognized in national contest
May 29, 2008
Lowry Dialysis in Denver, a DaVita dialysis center, has been awarded the Regional and Divisional Wall of Fame prize for its Wall of Fame themed "Lowry, The Fabric Of Life." DaVita utilizes the DaVita Wall of Fame as part of its effort to build a caring community throughout its centers. The Wall of Fame is a collection of pictures and facts about teammates and patients grouped around a fun theme along a highly-visible wall in the clinic.
All winners had at least a 75% participation rate in their centers, which means most of the centers' patients, caregivers, and teammates helped in some way to create the Wall of Fame.

Nurse Decides on DaVita
March 24, 2008
The Kansas City Nursing News had the chance to interview Ron Ellis, a Registered Nurse at the DaVita Dialysis Center on Hospital Hill in Kansas City. Ron started out as a dialysis technician back in 1988, and continued on to become a RN 10 years later. After he became a RN, he decided to stick with dialysis. One reward Ron has seen being in dialysis, is he has seen patients receive transplants and get off dialysis. “Then you get to see them come back and visit,” he said. Ron helps about 15 patients connect to the dialysis machine each day.

Dialysis at Dusk
February 28, 2008
Roy Pate started regular dialysis treatments in 1999. He had high blood pressure and now admits, “I wasn’t taking care of it.”
Since then he has been on dialysis for three days a week, for four and half hours at a time. The treatments ate into his day, and he would leave each treatment exhausted. So when he heard DaVita Dialysis in Northport was planning to offer nocturnal dialysis treatments, Pate made every effort to be one of the night-time patients.
Pate said nocturnal dialysis has not only made his treatments more convenient, it has also made him feel better. “I feel a lot better now,” Pate said. “I have more energy than I had. Before I would go home and take a nap. Now I go home and can do things. I’m up and active for the day.”
