DaVita teammates in dialysis centers across the nation chose local charities to support as part of the DaVita Way of Giving, the company's locally focused charitable giving initiative that helps 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations grow and thrive. Charities included food banks, thrift stores, crisis centers, children's organizations, foundations, ministries, soup kitchens and many more.
"DaVita is a dialysis company, but we're not about dialysis - we're about giving life," said Steve Priest, chief wisdom officer for DaVita. "We want to make significant positive impacts in the communities where we live and work."
As a part of the DaVita Way of Giving, DaVita contributed $132,000 to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Along with millions of others living on the East Coast, many DaVita teammates suffered the devastating impacts of Hurricane Sandy. These contributions will help relief organizations supporting recovery and rebuilding efforts in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
