“It’s been a seamless process for our practice. The inefficiencies of copying, faxing and filing notes are now history,” says Dr. Edward Serros, a DaVita medical director and practicing nephrologist at East Valley Nephrology in Highland, Calif. “My practice generates around 10,000 dialysis encounters a year, which means that 10,000 pieces of paper needed to be sent, received and filed away. Now there are no extra steps involved. Our dialysis notes are readily available and easily accessed by all members of the care team.”
Note integration has been in beta testing with select Falcon EHR users since May and is now available nationwide. As a cloud-based solution, providers can access Falcon EHR whenever and wherever they are connected to the internet, from a desktop, laptop and iPad or iPad mini.
“Integrating patient notes is another great way to realize DaVita’s mission to be the partner of choice for nephrologists,” said Dr. Mark Kaplan, vice president of clinical IT for DaVita. “Now physicians can document in one certified EHR, thereby helping them to meet the requirements for Meaningful Use while still providing vital information back to the patient’s care team.”
