Quilting For A Cure

February 3, 2014  | DaVita in the News
The “Threads of Love" mission quilting group at Hubbard United Methodist church in Hubbard is donating 14 quilts to the DaVita Dialysis Center in Park Rapids through the program “Quilt for a Cure,” a high school student led charity project. The founding member Sid Gupta, after volunteering at the American Cancer Society, was moved by the pain that cancer patients have to endure. He made it his top priority to do whatever he could to ease the tribulation that cancer patients go through. After hours of brainstorming, boxes of energy drinks, and notebooks of paper, Quilt for Cure was born. The “Threads of Love” quilts will be given to dialysis patients at DaVita. Front sitting, from left, are DaVita nurses Chris Burlingame, Ashley Tretbar and Sandra Lunemann, who received the quilts to give to patients. Back, from left are HUMC Pastor Laurie Kantonen, and Threads of Love quilters Joanne Torfin, Lisa Bergren, Sue Harmon, Betty Davis, Jeanne Bergren, Kathie Cole, Jill Eisele, Kay Larson and Gail Manlove. Not pictured: Rojean Cummins, Joy Derr and Kathryn Manlove.
