Position Description

Acute RN Days – Western Michigan Acutes

Position Description

Acute RN, Full Time, Days, 10 hour shifts

This position provides care for dialysis patients in an acute care setting at Mercy Health –Muskegon and Select Specialty Hospital.

The position provides care in an acute care setting (i.e. Hospital or LTAC).  The typical schedule is 10 hr shifts, 4-days a week.  Saturdays are rotated, usually 2 Saturdays a month.  Sundays are on call approximately every 6 weeks.  As an acute nurse you will provide care to patients in need of dialysis treatment in a multi-station treatment room or at the bedside. You will work closely with the Nephrologist in a multidisciplinary team in order to provide life-saving treatments to ill patients suffering from kidney injury/disease.

What can you expect as an acute dialysis nurse at DaVita?

To work both autonomously and as a team in a hospital environment without the typical hospital routine. Provide the highest level of care at hospitals units and ensure your patients' safety, comfort, and well-being with a nurse to patient ratio typically not more than 1:3. As a nurse at DaVita you are making a difference in the renal patient population. You can build your career in nephrology and practice multiple therapies (such as CRRT, Apheresis, and PD).

"I love working in the hospital setting where I am able to provide a life-saving therapy, either dialysis, apheresis or CRRT when a patient is in crisis, and I love working in an environment where I have a lower nurse to patient ratio and can help provide a critical therapy and education to our patients and their family.  At the same time, I get the hospital experience and education that I enjoy from the hospital setting.”  Kim C.

We are looking for a hard working teammate, with a great attitude!

Training is provided to both experienced and non-experienced dialysis nurses. An experienced nurse will receive a training that is tailored to them, while a nurse that does not have previous experience will receive an orientation up to 12 weeks, and includes theory and hands-on learning.
