GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" />


The Data Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and daily operations of the Data Operations engineers and DB development team.  The team is responsible for database development efforts, data services implementations, performance optimization and the various data movement and integration platforms across Davita.

The Data Operations Manager is responsible for the high-level success of the Data Services teams.  This will include guiding project management, time management, coaching, training, organizing, and planning.   She/he will need to assure that team goals are met as well as establishing new goals and motivators.  This position ensures the team’s quality of work and continued improvement.  


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Data Operations Engineer Manager will supervise the middleware engineers responsible for application integration, database development, and data services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Provide Manager leadership to teams
  • Prioritize and assign work to meet deadlines
  • Write annual reviews for all direct reports with quarterly check-ins
  • Manage corrective actions per People Services and management
  • Interview and hire resources as required
  • Engage the team in training for essential duties
  • Maintain regular meetings with direct reports individually and as a team
  • Build leaders within our teams
  • Strategic planning for Davita’s data services platform
  • Coordination with development and architectural teams on data integration strategies
  • Bridge between development and support teams for data services

Qualifications

About Information Technology

The Information Technology Department designs, develops and maintains software programs required to keep DaVita on the leading edge of medical technology. DaVita's Information Technology Department has both clinic facing and non-clinic facing subgroups that provide our clinician teammates the tools to provide quality patient care. DaVita IT utilizes designers, developers, system architects, project managers, application architects, nurses, trainers and many more professionals to incorporate the technology needs of our clinicians, business and physician customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" />


  • 5 years managing technical teams in an operational capacity
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)/Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
  • Experience with data services platforms such as Hadoop, SPLUNK, Netezza
  • Experience with SDLC practices and tools such as JIRA, Starteam
  • Project management skills. Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated analysis and communication skills, able to connect technology and business problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional groups

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adjust priorities appropriately in an evolving work environment with shifting time frames; self-starter with high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow through
  • Familiarity with the following Integration, Database, and Data Services technologies:

-Database: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2

-REDHAT Fuse: ActiveMQ, Camel, and Karaf, JAVA, etc.

-Denodo, Informatica B2B Gateway, Lenoma

-Netezza, Splunk, Hadoop

-Web/ Application Servers: Glassfish, Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, etc

-JMS, JMX, JSF, Web services, SOAP, etc

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:

Ability to lift minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 25 pounds unassisted; able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, lifting, and use full range of body motions.
