Transonic Technician, Patient/Clinical Education ( Phoenix Area )

Position Description

This position is responsible for monitoring patient access points to proper blood flow, and prevent blockages.  This position is also responsible for clinical training in the region.  The position provides timely and effective technical clinical training to new patient care technicians and nurses, and ongoing clinical training in all similar Davita teammates in their assigned region.  Trainings include CPR classes, local in-services, and other education and skill checks as needed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Travel to all clinics in the region to perform monthly transonic readings on patient access points. 

Provide direct clinical instruction to all new patient care technicians and nurses during the initial clinical training program.

Maintain continuous communication with the Facility Administrator regarding progress and training needs of new clinical teammates.

Provide direction to local facility preceptors after the initial training program with ongoing support and mentoring.

Provide oversight for annual competencies of all Patient Care Technicians within assigned region if required by state regulation.

Monitor the implementation of policies and procedures in the facility pertaining to direct patient care.

Assist facility CQI team members in utilizing resources and strengths within their region to solve quality improvement challenges.

Partner with Clinical Services Specialists and Preceptors to provide hands-on training

Maintain current knowledge and ensure that clinic training and education needs are met in accordance with Davita’s policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as OSHA, CMS, AAMI, HIPAA, federal state and local regulations by providing continuing education and in-services/materials to teammates and patients to improve knowledge base and to meet regulatory and safety requirements on an as-needed basis.

Conduct CPR certification classes for new teammates as well as recertification classes for current Davita teammates in assigned region.

Model the Davita mission and values to all new and current Davita teammates.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to:

o   Work overtime with little or no notice as needed

o   Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed

o   Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures

o   May also perform or assist in facility audits for survey readiness as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

(Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, including computer skills as required)

  •  High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Dialysis Technician Certification by a state certification program or a national commercially available certification program required per these guidelines:
    • Certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire
  •  Meet all applicable state requirements for education, training, credentialing, competency, standards of practice, certification, and licensure in the state in which employed as a dialysis technician
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in dialysis delivery and the treatment of Renal Disease required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple dialysis delivery systems required
  • Valid driver’s license in state of employment and positive driving record sufficient to meet insurance requirements of company
  • Experience in CQI methodology and techniques usually gained through 3-5 years’ experience in a hemodialysis facility required.
  • Effective and professional presentation skills and practices including PowerPoint presentation creation required.
  • Experience in teaching the adult learner preferred with sound knowledge of adult learning theory and ability to present material to differing levels of base knowledge from novice to professional (i.e. the ability to change teaching style to accommodate learners’ needs) preferred.
  • Scheduling flexibility and ability to travel up to 50% of the time required.
  • Current CPR instructor certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of accepting position required.
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook required; functional proficiency in all Davita clinical programs within 90 days of hire required.
