Position Description

The Mobile Community of Excellence is the team helping DaVita model the way for integrated care. Our team guides the mobile technology direction, standards and delivery that help to create secure, consistent, branded and amazing mobile app experiences for patients, providers and teammates.

 

As the Sr. Manager of Development, you will play a key role in the Mobile Community of Excellence managing a team who are tasked with designing, building, testing, deploying and standardizing the mobile direction within DaVita IT. In addition to people management, the position requires strong technical skills and ability to help set the direction of mobile technologies. The ideal candidate must have experience managing Agile mobile development teams, working with diverse business partners and the ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of highly motivated, experienced mobile application developers
  • Direct and monitor daily work of teams including progress toward goals
  • Identify resource needs and secure as needed
  • Help set technical direction
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure and backend systems management teams on developing best in class, scalable solutions
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of Mobile Developers and other Engineers and as they work on defining complex implementations, addressing production problems or developing productivity enabling tools
  • Unrelenting focus on enabling team learning and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with all aspects of the business and IT
  • A passion for people, performance improvement and team building
  • Ability to understand large complex systems to enable effective problem analysis and leading a team in developing a solution
  • Active involvement in cross-team meetings focused on release and solution planning
  • A passion for technology and its use to solve complex business problems in a timely and robust manner.
  • Work effectively with client support teams and implementation architects to resolve application issues 
  • A strong candidate may quickly take on additional responsibilities including more direct reporting relationships and responsibility for the mobile applications release program management

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in (Engineering, Computer science)
  • A passion for mobile technologies is a must
  • Minimum of ten (10) years enterprise IT experience required including:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management, decision-making, problem solving, presentation, documentation, planning and organization skills.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills including ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional groups
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills; ability to interact positively with teammates at all levels of the company
  • Approachable and open
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing mobile dev team, with experience in native iOS & Android, Hybrid technologies, web services, DevOps and mobile infrastructure

The Information Technology Department designs, develops and maintains software programs required to keep DaVita on the leading edge of medical technology. DaVita's Information Technology Department has both clinic facing and non-clinic facing subgroups that provide our clinician teammates the tools to provide quality patient care. DaVita IT utilizes designers, developers, system architects, project managers, application architects, nurses, trainers and many more professionals to incorporate the technology needs of our clinicians, business and physician customers.
