Inventory Lead Pharmacy Technician

Position Description

 

DaVita Rx, located in Coppell, TX is seeking a Lead Inventory Pharmacy Technician for our operations.

 

The Inventory Pharmacy Technician Lead is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory of drugs, supplies and packaging materials.  This includes oversight of end to end process management from purchasing to conducting cycle counts.

 

The shift is 9:00 am to 6:00pm, primarily, with some fluctuations that will require flexibility to work some light overtime.     

 

Accountabilities and Deliverables:

 
  • Proactively update management and senior management on staffing, team status, operational bottlenecks, or any other issues requiring management awareness.

  • Assist in the orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring of other DaVita Rx teammates as requested.

  • Coordinate drug product recall research with the Recall Coordinator per the manufacturer’s instructions via appropriate reporting and record maintenance.

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with DaVita Rx suppliers as needed for direct and indirect prescription products and consumables.

  • Partner with Finance and coordinate quarterly physical inventories of consumable products

  • Coordinate regular inventory control counts for all dispensing pharmacies in compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Recommend and implement prescription materials management strategies for pharmacies

  • Monitor and audit  inventory control procedures and processes

  • Comply with all applicable regulations; maintain thorough documentation including SOX Narratives

  • Ensure separation checks and balances between procurement and receiving teammates

  • Ensure inventory accuracy of daily receipts with electronic receipt systems

  • Oversee and regularly evaluate cycle count program, revising as appropriate to continuously improve while meeting internal requirements

  • Create and maintain a positive relationship with the DaVita Rx Pharmacy Operational Managers, Supervisors and Pharmacists in Charge

  • Manage RCA (root cause analysis) process of inventory discrepancies

  • Partner with Dispensing Operations to support inventory management needs integrated with dispensing automation technology and software

  • Ensure flawless execution of contractual services

  • Responsible for weekly and monthly reporting as well as ad hoc requests

  • Support finance / front end ops to maximize inventory efficiencies, and labor associated of managing inventory opportunities

  • Develop quality reports to ensure accuracy of databases and functionality of processes

  • Provide work direction for department teammates

  • Maintain and communicate facility emergency management programs and ability to act swiftly, confidently in an emergency

  • Know, understand, follow, and implement DaVita safety and security policies and procedures

  • Complete according to established practices, new item set up in pharmacy systems and databases for new drugs.  This includes setting up vendor & product information not limited to order methodology and levels, pricing, cycle count code assignments and submitting drug linking requests between brand and generics for a GPI code.

  • Establish par levels and monitor usage of all consumable packaging products used in packing & shipping an order; obtain price quotes, create purchase orders, track usage and conduct physical inventories as required.

  • Respond to requests for information on product availability and order status, including requests for cancellations and expediting.

  • Conduct thorough root cause research on inventory adjustments hitting established parameters; document findings and be able to report out as required.

  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives as requested by DaVita Rx Management.

  • Actively assist in all aspects of inventory & purchasing management as required to ensure all work is completed by established deadlines.

  • Maintain proper and accurate records; including purchase orders, invoices, adjustments and returns according to defined guidelines.

  • Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position as well as flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

The Shining Star for this role will have the following experience, certifications and education  

  • Minimum of two years’ experience managing inventory (pharmacy inventory experience preferred)

  • 1-2 years of experience in a lead/supervisory role

  • Pharmacy Technician license required

  • Demonstrated ability in basic math required

  • Scheduling flexibility required

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, reach above head, push/pull, and be able to stand continuously for 6-10 hours.

  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required; proficiency in all DaVita Rx specific software required within 60 days of hire or position change

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
