GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Administrator, IT Systems (Lab) under the direction of the IT Manager, Team Lead or other senior personnel, deploys the release of new technologies as well as designs, installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of server operating systems, related utilities and hardware. Responsible for troubleshooting server problems as reported by users. Researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products.
Maintains a secure systems environment. Provides new hardware specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure. This position reports to the Manager, IT (Lab).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain the system environments
Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components.
Maintain and administer system environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
Monitor system performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made
2. Install and configure new servers, hardware and related equipment
Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
Install and configure operating system and application software
3. Process Improvements
Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
Level III – Moderate noise (e.g., business office with computers or printers, light traffic). No required tasks involve greater exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues than would be encountered by a visitor. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids or other hazardous conditions.

VISUAL REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE
Vision adequate to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of position. May be required to demonstrate the ability to differentiate colors on a test strip.
Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following activities:
Ability to lift minimum of 5 lbs to a max of 50 lbs unassisted and able to stand, sit, stoop, walk, stretch, reach, and use full range of body motions.
Manual dexterity as required for specific equipment and ability to use computer keyboard and peripherals.
