The Support I, Laboratory (Lab) performs a cross –functional rotation between jobs with similar levels of responsibility throughout the laboratory. These positions would include the Processor, Specimen I, Associate I, Material Handler and the Specialist I, Cash Posting. This position reports to Manager, Logistics (Lab).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION % OF TIME
1. Specimen Processing:
Receives, processes, and accessions all specimens for testing in
designated lab departments
Unloads and unpacks specimens and routes specimens by type to
2. Material Handling:
• Identifies re-useable items versus damaged or soiled
• Cuts boxes, processes air bills, records shipments. Performs and
records department maintenance for functions and equipment used
• Sorts specified material
• Labels boxes for shipment
• Constructs boxes and fill with proper materials
3. Cash Posting:
• Applies payments and/or denials to the appropriate patient claim
• Balances all posted amounts to check and batch amount;
troubleshoot as necessary
• Resolves any out-of-balance conditions
• Researches difficult Remittance Advices for resolution to avoid
posting to the unapplied cash account
4. Other duties as assigned. 5%

Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and
Medical terminology training or exposure
One to Two (1-2) years of distribution center/warehouse or
Six (6) months medical office or data entry experience
50 wpm typing speed
Strong 10 –key skills by touch
