GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" />

This position designs, develops, tests, and maintains database systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of business operations including writing programming scripts. This position analyzes and resolves database problems through telephone and remote access.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Design, develop, test, and modify database systems (50% of work time)
    • Research and resolve issues escalated due to complexity and/or time restrictions
    • Write programming code as necessary
  • Write user documentation for database systems created and/or maintained by the department (20% of work time)
  • Provide on-call and after hours support of database system to troubleshoot problems (20% of work time)   
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and up-to-date expertise in evolving technologies
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to:
    • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
    • Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures
    • Travel required up to 20%

Qualifications

About Information Technology

The Information Technology Department designs, develops and maintains software programs required to keep DaVita on the leading edge of medical technology. DaVita's Information Technology Department has both clinic facing and non-clinic facing subgroups that provide our clinician teammates the tools to provide quality patient care. DaVita IT utilizes designers, developers, system architects, project managers, application architects, nurses, trainers and many more professionals to incorporate the technology needs of our clinicians, business and physician customers.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" />

Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required.

  • Associate’s degree in related area required
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ database design and maintenance or similar experience required
    • Demonstrated knowledge of database design, administration and analytical procedures required
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle and other related database technologies required
    • Demonstrated understanding of object-oriented programming practices required
    • Demonstrated understanding of source control systems required
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook required  
    • Advanced proficiency in SQL, VisualBasic, and Oracle required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:

  • Ability to lift minimum of 2 pounds to a maximum of 15 pounds unassisted; able to sit for extended periods of time with some standing, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, lifting; moderate range of body motions
  • Ability to hear and interact by phone clearly and efficiently
  • Ability to use computer and all peripherals for extended periods of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT        

Level III - Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)

No required tasks involve greater exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues than would be encountered by a visitor. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids or other hazardous conditions. Normal hazards associated with business travel.
