General Purpose of the Job

 

The Budget Analyst for Corporate Accounting is designed to provide analytical support to the Senior Accounting Leadership, and on an ad hoc basis, to 20 accounting and finance departments.  The Analyst or Senior Analyst should have an understanding of GAAP as well as financial concepts. This position reports to the Manager of Training and Development, and works closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and VP of Accounting and has responsibilities pertaining to budgeting, reporting and special projects..

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparation of annual budget and monthly forecasting.
  • Prepares detailed, timely and accurate analysis on financial results, variance to budget, and tracking to forecast, on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Completes monthly, quarterly and annual management reports.
  •  Assists with senior management meetings, preparations, and analysis.
  • Gathers data from various teams and sources to analyze statistics, trends, and financial impact to various projects and departments.
  • Generates various standard and ad hoc reports that enables management to control and analyze operations.
  • Works with the Accounting teams to analyze and develop operating business models and implementation plans.
  • Assists in monthly close.
  • Translates high-level business requirements into functional specifications and manage changes to specifications.
  • Monitors and participates in ensuring project deadlines and schedules are met.
  • Analyzes business partner operations to understand and determine opportunities to improve processes and functions.
  • Develops internal and external meeting objectives and agendas.
  • Documents and analyzes information for Accountables related to projects.
  • Prepares requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations.
  • Defines, develops, and implements test conditions and plans.
  • Prepares insightful presentations for senior management to concisely summarize performance targets and progress toward initiatives by individual business units.
  • Assists Manager -Training with delivering trainings and content development for trainings
  •  Other duties as assigned
  • Travel Required: Less than 15%

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required
  • Minimum of 1 year of related analytical and/or project experience, preferred
  • Experience analyzing, creating reports, and forecasting a variety of financial and or operational metrics
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Experience with Essbase and Oracle preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency in Access, SQL, and database design  and operation strongly preferred
  • Deals with highly confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment
  • Project experience preferred.
  • Previous budgeting experience preferred
