Clinical Student Internship Programs

12 Week Internship, Over Summer Between Junior and Senior Year
School of Nursing (SON) Internship
This is a paid full-time 12 week summer internship program designed for nursing students interested in working with patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD).  You'll have supervised patient interactions, where you'll actively assist with the complete plan of care for patients.

​​​​​​​After you complete your summer internship, you'll continue to be mentored, working part-time as a Patient Care Technician at DaVita during your senior year.

Upon completion of your undergraduate degree, rotations, and successful passing of the the NCLEX, you and your mentor can discuss the options for working as an RN at DaVita.


Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time in your junior year (to apply) in an accredited BSN program.
RN Student Rotations
Clinical Day: 1 Day Student Rotation
Designed for nursing students in any year of undergraduate learning, you'll rotate at a DaVita dialysis clinic for one day while shadowing an RN. You'll observe what it's like to treat patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). 

Clinical Stay: 4-6 Week Student Rotation
This is a longer clinical rotation where you'll rotate for 4-6 weeks at a DaVita dialysis clinic until your required clinical hours are completed. You'll participate in hands-on approved activities, as well as shadow an RN and other clinical staff, learning first-hand what it's like to treat patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Upon completion of your undergraduate degree, rotations, and successful passing of the the NCLEX, you and your mentor can discuss the options for working as an RN at DaVita.


Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited nursing program.
4-6 Week Internship
Patient Care Technician Internship
This program provides a practical experience to students interested in working in a clinical setting with dialysis patients. You'll receive supervised training and mentoring, focusing on the comfort and safety of each patient. Students will have the opportunity to connect with dialysis technicians, social workers, dietitians, and DaVita leaders throughout their internship.

​​​​​​​Upon successful completion of your internship and program of study, you and your mentor can discuss the options for working as a PCT at DaVita.

Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, or dialysis technician program.
Dietetic Student Rotations
1 Week or Less Student Rotation
Designed for students in any year of undergraduate learning, you'll rotate at a DaVita dialysis clinic for one week or less, depending on your needs. You'll shadow a Dietitian and learn the nutrition standards of care for a dialysis patient.

2-8 Week Student Rotation
This is an immersive program for students in any year of undergraduate learning. You'll rotate at a DaVita dialysis clinic for 2-8 weeks, depending on your needs. You'll gain practical clinical experience and learn about renal nutrition. You'll also have supervised patient interactions, where you'll actively participate in nutrition and laboratory data assessments and care plans.

Upon completion of your undergraduate degree and one year of clinical experience, you can apply to work as a Dietitian at DaVita. 


Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited BS Nutrition/Dietetics program.
Graduate Program, First/Second Year MSW Students 
Social Worker Internship
This graduate program introduces students to the clinical aspect of social work. You'll receive supervised training and mentoring, learning how to treat patients and their families as they cope with the effects of kidney disease. You'll gain hands-on training in case management, including patient plan assessment and evaluation, as well as best practices for monitoring the treatment process and health care needs of patients. 

Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time or have recently completed an accredited MSW program.
Nurse Residency Program
JouRNey 365 HSG Nurse Residency Program
This one year paid training program supports new graduate RNs through their first year in an acute hospital setting. The program includes a self-paced curriculum with monthly support calls to ensure new graduate nurses are equipped with the specialized skills needed to be successful as a Nephrology Nurse. The program requires a time commitment of two hours every month. 

Upon completion of your residency, you can smoothly transition into working as a competent acute care nurse at DaVita.

Eligibility Requirements: You must have completed an RN training program and have 1 year or less of experience.

You'll manage a project that will directly impact a variety of operational and strategic initiatives at DaVita.

After a successful summer internship and completion of your undergraduate degree, Summer Analysts are ideally offered a position in the Analyst Program.

Eligibility Requirements: Youmust be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program.
3 Days, Mid-July Between Sophomore and Junior Year
Sophomore Leadership Summit
You'll receive training in team development, communication styles, analytical skills and problem solving.

After a successful leadership summit, you may be selected to interview for or join the next year’s Summer Analyst class.

MBA Program
1 Year, Full-time
Resident Program
A yearlong immersive experience in one of our clinics, where you'll receive real opportunities to lead the business, develop a culture, drive clinical results and discover your own leadership potential.

And at the end of a successful program, you will transition to a full-time role as a field operator or corporate leader.
