Clinical Student Internships

Student Nurse Internship

Clinical (shadow) Day: 1 Day Rotation

Designed for nursing students in any year of undergraduate learning, you'll rotate at a DaVita dialysis clinic for one day while shadowing an RN. You'll observe what it's like to treat patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). 

Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited nursing program.
Student Nurse Internship

Nurse Internship: 4-6 Week Rotation

This is a longer clinical rotation where you'll rotate for 4-6 weeks at a DaVita dialysis clinic until your required clinical hours are completed. You'll participate in hands-on approved activities, as well as shadow an RN and other clinical staff, learning first-hand what it's like to treat patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited nursing program.

Student Patient Care Technician Internship

Patient Care Technician Internship: 4-6 Week Rotation

This program provides a practical experience to students interested in working in a clinical setting with dialysis patients. You'll receive supervised training and mentoring, focusing on the comfort and safety of each patient. Students will have the opportunity to connect with dialysis technicians, social workers, dietitians, and DaVita leaders throughout their internship.

Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, or dialysis technician program.

Clinical Student Internships

Student Dietitian Internship

Dietitian Intern Rotation

This is an immersive program for interns enrolled in an accredited dietetic program. You'll rotate at a DaVita dialysis clinic for an agreed upon specified timeframe. You'll gain practical clinical experience and learn about renal nutrition. You'll also have supervised patient interactions, where you'll actively participate in nutrition and laboratory data assessments and care plans. 

Eligibility Requirements: Completion of bachelor's degree and enrolled in an accredited Nutrition/Dietetics internship program.
Student MSW Internship

Social Worker Internship

This program introduces students to the clinical aspect of social work. You'll receive supervised training and mentoring, learning how to treat patients and their families as they cope with the effects of kidney disease. You'll gain hands-on training in case management, including patient plan assessment and evaluation, as well as best practices for monitoring the treatment process and health care needs of patients. 

Eligibility Requirements: You must be currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited MSW program.

Any newly hired nurses with less than 12 months of nursing experience have the opportunity to be a part of DaVita’s Transition to Practice clinical and leadership developmental program.
